Abstract

In this paper, the implementation of a spectral or characteristic-based fifth order WENO (Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory) scheme is described in detail along with an adaptive multiresolution technique for efficiently computing the numerical solution of a multi-class traffic flow model described mathematically by a nonlinear system of conservation laws. In [1] the authors considered the same problem but, in a component, -wise manner. More recently, [2] conducted numerical experiments by using characteristic-based schemes combined with AMR (Adaptive Mesh Refinement) strategy.

En este artĆ­culo, se describe detalladamente la implementaciĆ³n del esquema WENO (Weighted Essentially Non-Oscillatory) de quinto orden, incorporando informaciĆ³n caracterĆ­stica y combinado con la tĆ©cnica adaptativa de multiresoluciĆ³n para calcular de una manera eficiente, la soluciĆ³n numĆ©rica de un modelo de trĆ”fico vehicular con varias especies descrito matemĆ”ticamente por un sistema no lineal de leyes de conservaciĆ³n. En la referencia [1] se estudia el mismo problema, pero sin incluir informaciĆ³n caracterĆ­stica. MĆ”s recientemente, en la referencia [2] se desarrollan experimentos numĆ©ricos usando esquemas que incorporan informaciĆ³n caracterĆ­stica combinados con una tĆ©cnica de refinamiento de mallas adaptativas (AMR)
