dc.description.abstractLos pacientes muy enfermos deben hospitalizarse en unas salas de atención especiales que se denominan unidades de cuidados intensivos (UCI) es indudable que la posibilidad de ingresar en una UCI permite la supervivencia de muchas personas que de otra forma estarían condenadas a la muerte. Sin embargo debido a las condiciones propias de la gravedad clínica y la necesidad de realizar múltiples formas de terapia invasiva, muchos pacientes presentan complicaciones e tipo infeccioso que de poderse prevenir mejorarían su pronóstico. En la actualidad hay dos gérmenes causantes de infección dentro de las UCI que afectan de forma significativa ·!as posibilidades de vida de este grupo de pacientes. Este es un estudio que pretende conocer el comportamiento de estos gérmenes y descifrar las razones para su aparición y su agresividad, a partir de su diferenciación entre resistentes o sensibles a los antibióticos mas reconocidos para su tratamiento, los carbapenemes, y así poder proponer medidas de control que resulten en un mejor de los enfermos que ingresan a UCI.spa
