The pro-atherosclerotic potential of a periodontopathic species depends on the ability of the strain to infect the endothelium. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from atherosclerosis-associated bacteria causes innate inflammatory responses in the pathogenic processes induced by microorganisms. The purpose of this study was to compare the pro-inflammatory responses of human coronary artery endothelial cells (HCAECs) to LPS isolated from E. corrodens 23834 and P. gingivalis W83.
